At one end of Lake Wakatipu is the small settlement of Glenorchy, from which is several world-class New Zealand fly fishing rivers holding both brown and rainbow trout. These areas are accessed by foot, or for those wanting a once in a lifetime New Zealand fly fishing adventure, a Helicopter is recommended to get into the more remote stretches of the river.

We will mostly cast to sighted fish ranging in size from 3-6lb, but there's always the possibility of hooking up much larger fish and each season, a few lucky anglers land fish in the 10lb+ range. The above trophy brown trout tipped the scales at 12lb and was spotted, cast too and hooked by Jonathon, making it to the net after an epic 30min battle!

Queenstown has an International airport, making it easily accessible for you to fly directly into a world-renowned New Zealand fly fishing destination! Our NZPFGA guide, Paul, will pick you up from the airport at an arranged time, and within an hour, have you starting your fly fishing Queenstown adventure in a region renowned for its landscapes and scenery.

The Southern Lakes area offers spring creeks, freestone rivers and streams, and smaller alpine lakes, all of which are found in various settings, from ancient Beech forests, open tussock lined river valleys to green pastures and fertile farmland.
