Fly Fishing Queenstown

Tom is regular client whom I have guided each season for the past 6 years and usually for a duration of 5 days.He is a fairly competent angler and enjoys sight fishing in the lower South Island region's smaller rivers and streams. He relishes the challenge and technical skills required to catch it's wily brown trout.

Each winter we email/ring each other carefully planning his upcoming New Zealand trout fishing adventure, with the Southland region rivers and streams usually the main topic of our conversations , being flexible is paramount when planning to fish this area as the weather is famous for ruining the best made plans ! We really enjoy each other's company and have become good mates over the years, there is always plenty of banter and lots of laughs over the week we are together.knowing him so well now there are several other advantages such as knowing his casting ability and fitness level helps me to plan his trips to appropriate locations with rivers and streams that suit his ability.

The beauty for Tom is that Queenstown has it's own International airport making it easily accessible for him to fly directly into a world renowned New Zealand fly fishing destination! I pick him up from the airport at an arranged time and within an hour have him starting his fly fishing Queenstown adventure ! A region that offers spring creeks, freestone rivers and streams, and smaller alpine lakes all of which are found in a variety of settings, from ancient Beech forests, open tussock lined river valleys to green pastures and fertile farmland.Fly fish Queenstown and it's surrounding rivers and streams is a bucket list trip for many people.
